“GIVE ME FIVE MINUTES AND I CAN CONVINCE ANYONE OF THE BENEFITS OF FOAM!”

Pouring is a profession not a job. Everyone can pour but not everyone can pour well. I’ve always liked lager because it’s so refreshing and I grew up in a small village where there was always beer on the table. I came to Berlin in 2006 and really got into beer as a profession when I started at Birgit & Bier. I don’t always have time to talk to everyone about foam, but I like to put wet and dry foam in the same glass to show the difference. The wet foam is much whiter, and the dry foam tastes so bitter. Horrible! I’m a musician in a Blues band, we gig all over Berlin – sometimes even in the bars I work in. I work four days a week in Zur Fetten Ecke, which translates as ‘the big fat corner’. It is full of character – matched by the tank beer. I’m honoured to be included in the Tapster family. It is a growing family, but very welcoming. Home for me is where the foam is – and I always go where the foam is!

If you were a beer, what beer would you be?

I’d be a Šnyt. It’s still sweet but also fresh for a long time. When you’re done, you immediately want another one!
