As Brand Ambassador for Germany, I don’t work for one bar. My bar is the whole of Berlin. I knew Pilsner Urquell from my grandfather who loved to drink it. It was the beer from Czech, our Communist neighbours, and renowned for its quality. They called it a ‘bueck bier’ – not exactly illegal, but underground. In fact, we drank Pilsner Urquell when the Berlin Wall came down. This was a great moment for everyone and what better way to celebrate such a historic event? So I was truly excited to become part of the Pilsner Urquell family. It surprised and interested me that one beer that could be poured in different ways. In Germany we are the only major brand to have wet foam. We’re pioneers. And while most German brands just sell the beer to customers, we go to the trouble to make sure it is looked after and poured well – they respect that. Being a Brand Ambassador is the greatest thing for me. I work with like-minded shops, restaurants, bars and influencers, and I supervise a lot of staff training. Pilsner Urquell has the best history and story. I love talking to people about it. I just hope I do the beer proud!

If you were a beer, what beer would you be?

I’m definitely not a craft beer! I would be Pilsner Urquell because it’s not too bitter, not too sweet. It’s fresh. A beer has to be fresh and drinkable but have personality too.
