Pilsner Urquell is part of the Craft Beer Society in Hong Kong. We’re the only major brand to have been accepted and I’m proud of that. Beer is often seen as entry level alcohol but that isn’t true! Especially in Czech – it commands so much respect. Czech and Plzeň were amazing. So historical and so incredibly special. I got to experience the roots of the brand so clearly. It’s hallowed ground of the beer world. A Tapster has to embody passion and quality. They have to have a dedication to quality, they must take pride in what they do – no matter what their position in the bar – and they must want to learn always and want to improve themselves. I have a huge desire to constantly push things further. I came to Hong Kong for adventure – for something different. Beer was always a hobby. In my life I’ve been to a lot of breweries, met lots of brewers and brewed with both my brothers-in-law. It’s no wonder I’m so interested in beer!

If you were a beer, what beer would you be?

I’d be a golden ale. It’s interesting and playful. It’s up-and-coming, always changing, with a sweet and fruity flavour. It’s not overly bitter either. It’s basically steady, fun and sessionable!
